This course is a debate introductory course. The first 6 lectures will cover basic ideas, rules and tactics in debates. In the last several lectures, participants will practice debates in the British Parliamentary format with feedback from the instructor. The ultimate goal of this course is to encourage participants to think critically, to express ideas with confidence, and to adopt an objective view when dealing with problems. In this course, participants will not only horn their debate skills and public speaking skills, but also become more enthusiastic about probing deep into controversial topics.
